A square allowed to breathe again

A square tells much about a Grätzl. The Volkertplatz in Leopoldstadt has just been redesigned, unsealed, planted, given back to people. Where cars once stood, trees and benches now stand, and the old market has room again. For everyone living nearby, it is the loveliest living-room substitute under the open sky.

The market as a rhythm-giver
