There is a moment that decides a whole stay, and it lasts barely a minute. The moment the door opens. In our apartments by the Westbahnhof there is then no key box and no number code, but a person who puts the key in your hand. And this short moment at the door is our favourite welcome.

Why we are there ourselves at the Westbahnhof

Not at every one of our apartments can we hand over in person, but at the small flats by the Westbahnhof we do. They lie close together, newly renovated, quiet, and because they are so near, so are we. We unlock with you, show you where the light falls differently than you would think, where the kettle stands, how the old wine-red box window tilts. A host is no machine. He is someone who was already there before you come.

The small signs of arriving

A welcome needs no grand gesture. It is enough that someone was there before you. The window tilted open so the air is fresh, the light set so the first glance falls warm. A word about where the next good coffee waits and how the old window closes. Such small things say quietly, here you were expected. They cost almost nothing and yet decide whether a room feels like a home from the first minute or only like a room you booked.

Arriving is a ritual

The key that passes from one hand to another is an old image of trust. Once it handed over a whole house, today a home for a while. We hold on to this ritual because it makes the beginning worthy. You come with the suitcase, we with the key, and in the short moment between, an address becomes a place where you are expected.
